Point is, good discussion about gaming, which I had during my SWG in the squad leader /carabineer /galactic war forums time are like not existant anymore. The EvE Online Forum is trolled into oblivion, alternate sites are only slightly better but have no impact :-/. Eve’s potential is so huge as it is a very huge sandbox – although tante always complains that he has to bring all the toys himself – the potential is the reason why I still stick there – and naturally because I think playing eve is fun.
Professionally written in full screenplay format by some fan who honestly seems to have done a pretty great job! I’ve read about half way and other than a few minor mess ups [which happen to any writer really; ever seen a professional script?].
The plot revolves around the Rise of the Independence to take on the Alliance 6 months after the events of SERENITY, where the ‘Verse is pretty pissed off about what the Alliance did…
It’s like owning an aquarium where you push/move your fish around . We in the Eve Uni have been war decced again, I’ve been forward and rear scout and it’s quite a lot of fun. It’s like playing RTS or a tactical Ops game with every unit handled by a real player. Team work, patience, tactics and knowledge about strengths and weakness and naturally a good intel on your enemy. Anyway someone within the eve uni wrote this and I just wanted to quote it:
How EVE University fights their wars
by Patri Allin
How we fight a war -
We form a Grand Blob with 3 people who have been to lots of wars, 20 people who have just taken the tackling class, 5 people who are wondering what a ‘TS’ is, and 1 person who is so new they think this is part of the tutorial. It takes us 10 minutes to figure out if we are a ‘tackler’ or an ‘EW’, and we haven’t even left the station yet.
We find the enemy. As Leader #1 ‘calls a primary’ 4 people put their vote in gang chat, then Leader #2 says ‘Jam that guy’ and somewhere someone stands up from their computer and starts to do the ‘Hammer’, And although nobody ever quite realizes this is what happened, Leader #3 has already been podded by 5 of our own guys who are now super excited they killed an enemy Battleship.
After the dust clears we’ve got 5 people left – shot 5 of the enemy (net loss 45) and for us this is a MASSIVE FREAKIN VICTORY! It is too cause our ships cost 1mil each and thiers about 200. We try to remember which way is home and then fly off in the wrong direction as somewhere nearby, sitting in their pod in a station, someone is thinking this is the best tutorial in an MMO ever.
* Blob = very large group/gang of players moving together
* TS = Teamspeak, Voice over IP programm
* tackler = crowd control style ship setup, disables targets moving abilit
* EW = electronic war, disrupting the enemies targeting and locking abilities
* Primary = First target to shoot at
* Jamming = see EW
* Podded = The Cockpit of a ship is a mini ship called pod, if this gets destroyed you’re podded
